Getting to Know FISCHER USA's Customer Service Team: Doug

Doug Kranz - FISCHER Customer Service TeamName: Doug Kranz
Job Title: VP of Sales and Marketing

How long have you worked for FISCHER USA? What areas have you worked in?
Almost 21 years. I started as a spindle technician, then went into field service, then customer service, then sales & sales manager, then Vice President of Sales.

What's your favorite thing about working for FISCHER USA?
The people, both the internal family culture and the customers; the actual humans behind the names. Spindles give me the opportunity to work with people.

If you could write your own job title that best describes what you do here, what would it be?
Chief Customer Advocate and Motivator

What do you enjoy about the work you do?
There is always a plethora of projects going on, whether complicated or quick and easy, and long or short. You never know what you will get until you get in that day. Lots of action. Bouncing from one thing to the next and no predictive repetition.

What's your favorite part of the spindle?
The front gold ring, because it looks good, nice and shiny. I like shiny things and it is classy. It's all you see of the spindle and then you know it is FISCHER.

What advice would you give a candidate who wants to join our team of superstars?
Have personal motivation by way of challenges or tasks at hand within the company. Be ready to take on responsibility and work with a team and not an individual. Have a good attitude and wake up every day enjoying coming to work.

Who is someone you admire, and why?
My mother, she was (still is, in heaven) the most thoughtful kind, caring, funny, charismatic human that I ever got to know.

What are your tips for being successful?
Treat everybody as you would want to be treated. Show love and respect. Provide the quick response service that you would want when you need service.

The most important thing I learned since high school is…
Be thankful for each day you wake up.

How do you want people to remember you?
As someone that cared about others as much as himself, showed respect, shared love and spoke out for my Savior Jesus Christ.

Do you have any skills or talents that most people don’t know about?
I am a foodie; love to smoke my own bbq food as a hobby. My next career will have something to do with people and food. Food makes people happy and I like to spread happiness.

What are your top 3 favorite books?
The Bible is the only book I have read. Some Cliffnotes in school, and very few other books cover to cover.

What is top on your bucket list?
I do not have a bucket list as I'm bad at planning; I am an eternal procrastinator. So until I foresee my death, I'm just going to appreciate each day. So, there is no bucket list for me.

Flashback to when you were 5 years old, what do you want to be when you grow up?
Either an athlete (football) or FBI agent. I still enjoy football. I played through high school; was captain of the football team. I found out there was too much schooling for FBI agents.

If you had a choice between two superpowers, being invisible or flying, which would you choose?
Invisible; I am not huge fan of heights and if you're flying you can hit the ground really hard. Sometimes I just want to disappear, be somewhere quiet.

Finish this sentence. On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me...
At church or on the golf course.
