Getting to Know FISCHER USA's Team: Jamie
Name: Jamie L. Herron
Job Title: Supply Chain Manager
1. How long have you worked for FISCHER USA? What areas have you worked in?
It will be 10 years this coming March. My entire career with Fischer has been in the Supply Chain world. In recent years, I have joined our Global SAP Team where I support our groups using the same ERP system.
2. What's your favorite thing about working for FISCHER USA?
The environment is family-friendly! Also...
A.) Location
B.) Team Dynamics - FISCHER USA promotes a culture of trust, communication, and respect for one another and for everyone on the team to be successful.
C.) Family history, as my great Uncle Jean Jenista retired from here. I crack up when my Uncle Dan talks about how he would run around the factory when visiting here to see his dad. Just makes my heart smile.
3. If you could write your own job title that best describes what you do here, what would it be?
I'm a ''glass half full'' type of person; mainly I think of myself as a ''Support Enthusiast'' as my department touches each aspect of our business. The phrase is an idiom that refers to an attitude of optimism or hopefulness. I am always trying to find the good in situations rather than the bad.
4. What do you enjoy about the work you do?
Being organized and prepared to support our customers both internally and externally.
We get a chance to improve whatever we decide to focus on and have GREAT opportunities to learn from really savvy and experienced people within our organization. One of the biggest rewards is supporting our team to excel in their knowledge by teaching processes in our ERP system and sharing my own experiences.
5. What's your favorite part of the spindle?
My favorite part is watching the development happen that requires highly accurate components that make the finished product into a workable part.
6. What advice would you give a candidate who wants to join our team of superstars?
Not to expect coming in having immediate knowledge of the work needed. We are truly an intricately precise manufacturer, and you will need time for learning the skills. So basically, be patient.
7. Who is someone you admire, and why?
My husband, Frankie Lee! He has been in my life for 36 years as my best friend, my boyfriend, my husband, the father of my children and now the grandfather (papa) of our grandson. My favorite part is looking into his eyes and seeing the love from him and the selfless acts he takes to care for others and his family. In the last 20 years, he has experienced cancer and then heart failure. I have watched him overcome both without a hint of regret or even complaints. God truly has blessed me, and I am so ever grateful!
8. What are your tips for being successful?
A.) Never give up
B.) Have a humble spirit
C.) Trust your team
D.) Face all your challenges positively, going back to my 'glass half full' idiom :)
9. The most important thing I learned (in or since) high school is...
A.) Staying on God's path that He has planned for me. Whenever I waiver from that path, leaning on Him while trusting He will carry me when I am too weak to stay forward.
B.) Family is your best friend.
10. How do you want people to remember you?
While you cannot control how others choose to remember you, you can decide how to live your life. I live mine by walking each day as if it was my last and praying daily that God protects me, while blessing my life with knowing love, laughter, friendships, and pain.
11. Do you have any skills or talents that most people don’t know about?
I have discovered these talents shortly after high school and have embraced them ever since.
A.) I make flower arrangements for just about anything. Home decor, weddings, etc. I put my playlist on and lose myself while making beautiful creations.
B.) Home interior design - have helped countless families and friends.
12.What are your top 3 favorite books/podcasts?
A.) The Bible
B.) 'Daddy' by Danielle Steele
C.) I have many favorite podcasts, but currently I am loving 'Out of the Dark' with Mandisa & Lauren Williams
13. What is top on your bucket list?
Retiring near a creek or river in the mountains in a small cabin with a wrap around porch.
14. Flashback to when you were 5 years old, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A nurse! My heart has always been pulled towards helping and showing love... to this day I will ask myself ''why did you not follow your heart''?
15. If you had a choice between two superpowers, being invisible or flying, which would you choose?
Flying, I would say! Imagining all the stops I could make to support my loved ones and total strangers... What opportunities could be there... I have always felt God has blessed me with a gift of a servant's heart.
16. Finish this sentence. On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me...
...either with my husband and grandchild rocking on the bench swing while listening to uplifting music and drinking coffee and milk together or at my parent's home having coffee and conversation with them.
